DESIGN INSPIRATION: I have always admired the shapes and functionality of the carabiners used in sport climbing, so I wanted to reinterpret them for storage and display. These geometric accessory organizers incorporate the functionality of a hook, but in large, playful shapes and sophisticated jewelry-like finishes.

Laura has always been fascinated by how things are made and how things can be joined together. She sees the world in colours, materials, details, shapes and patterns, and she believes that design plays an important role in everyday life.

Laura grew up in Calgary and moved to Toronto to attend Ryerson University, where she earned her Bachelor of Interior Design degree. After graduation, Laura worked as a junior interior designer on commercial projects at a large architectural firm before designing restaurants, lighting, furniture, and feature art installations at a local multidisciplinary design studio.

At Umbra, Laura is excited to work as a product designer and to help coordinate the sourcing and specifying of colours, materials, and finishes (CMF) across all product categories.
