THE INVISIBLE SHELF

The CONCEAL shelf from Umbra is an invisible book support that creates the impression that the books on it are levitating.

The shelf has two tiny hooks that hide the shelf's
support within the bottom book's cover, making it seem to disappear when additional books are placed on it.

The shelf is constructed of powder-coated steel and then bent 90 degrees. The simplicity of the construction makes it strong - it can hold up to ten books - and allows for easy installation with
the two included screws.

CONCEAL was a winner in the 2005 Umbra/Pratt Design Competition. Says designer Miron Lior, a Pratt junior, "As a student, I have lots of books,
and am always looking for an attractive way to store them where they're easy to see. CONCEAL also gives me an easy way to organize my books by topic, size, or color - and a group of CONCEALs
looks great on a bare wall!"

This year, Umbra is launching 2 new editions of Conceal: a larger version of the Conceal bookshelf that enables you to display large tomes and artbooks, and the Conceal Towel Shelf that becomes invisible behind folded towels, which appear to float on a
wall until they are needed.

The Conceal family (small, large and towel shelf)
is a line of products with benefits -- a portion of the
proceeds of sales is donated to Pratt Institute. And, best of all, Conceal's ingenious design contributes a definite element of cool and conversation to any room!
