Wood and Flowers Get Fresh in New U+ Collection

The creators of Umbra's newest U+ design collection were inspired to bring the outdoors in. Unusual design forms use wood and gold unexpectedly, even making florals from them, to help you freshen any room in your home.

Start with the office, where the REED desk accessory (1), designed by Thea Yuzyk, puts flexible acrylic rods into a beechwood base to create a new, contemporary way to stash writing implements or small paper items.

Above that desk or on any wall, the MATCHSTICK clock (2), with its vertically recessed curved white birch surface and metal hands, creates a serene atmosphere. Designed by Takashi Sakihara.

Gold was a big hit for U+ last year with the BRELLA line, as were the silver TILLA flowers. Now, those ideas have been combined by Michelle Ivankovic to create 24-karat gold-plated TILLA flowers (3), charmingly gift-packaged to give or display.

TILLA plays well off the rich reflections of the round glass VIVA mirror (4), designed by Matt Carr.

In another combination by Matt Carr, flowers intricately laser-cut from thick black wood veneer bloom across part of the round glass SILHOUETTE mirror (5) for a unique reflecting experience.
