Congrats, Les!

We're marching in delight regarding the recent recognition given to one of our co-founders, Les Mandebaum, from Humber College!

The Humber 2012 Board of Governor's Honorary Bachelor's Degree in Applied Studies was given to Les for his "success in fields of design, innovation and business", and we're glad to witness the behind-the-scenes episodes that lead to these contributions.

It's a little known fact that Umbra was started by boyhood friends, Les and Paul, after Paul designed a window shade with a graphic print that stood out from the milieu of window shades then.

That quickly became the ethos for their new-found company (in latin, means "shade" btw), which quickly created its mark within the global design community with its uniquely re-imagined, modern, Canadian take on things.

Many "re-imagined, everyday items" later, we find ourselves re-imagining things in new territories--or some 90+ countries and numerous retail partners after.

All of this we attribute to our strongest advocate of good work and thought, a father-figure to all who always imagined and sought a bigger pond for us to swim in.

Congrats, Les.
