The Stop's Night Market
We're super thrilled to share the work of Bettie, our design intern, at The Stop's "Night Market", a one-night food extravaganza held at Toronto heritage spot, Honest Ed's, last week.
Bettie Cott, our fabulous furniture intern, and her friend (together were known as "Cott & Reed"), were one of the select designers picked to create a "cart" for participating chefs, restaurants and caterers who cooked and served their one-of-a-kind street dishes to thousands of local foodies.
It's an atypical cart with two front legs that have been "re-carpentered" to have a retro-modern look (the details show yellow polka dots), painted to stand out in striking White-White. Local restaurant favourite, Yours Truly, was the partnered foodie, who, we heard, served lineups till 11 at night!
What makes the event super special is its celebration of food and urban spaces. Proceeds go to The Stop, a NPO that distributes and serves healthy food to the needy. Plus, the whole food orgy (it's $50 all-you-can-eat inside), attended by some of the best restaurants and chefs in Toronto, happens nowhere less than an alley and a parking lot.
Doesn't the designer cart look like a gondola in a sea of hungry?
